EEC and Argentina Government Secretariat for Agro-Industry Signed Memorandum of Cooperation

Alexander Subbotin, Member of the Board (Minister) in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), and Luis Miguel Etcheveere, Government Secretary for Agro-Industry of the Ministry of Production and Labor of the Argentine Republic, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of agro-industrial complex (AIC) as part of a working meeting in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

The document provides for interaction in a number of areas, including plant cultivation, livestock, technology transfer and investment in the AIC.

Alexander Subbotin emphasized the importance of sharing experience between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Argentina on agricultural practices, achievements in the field of agricultural sciences, the latest developments and technologies for the seed-farming of crops, and touched on the prospects for the development of eco-farming. He also noted the need for clear coordination in applying veterinary and phytosanitary measures in mutual trade. The EEC Minister stated that the joint work of the Commission and the Government Secretariat is necessary both to establish efficient mutually beneficial contacts between the parties to the memorandum in the agro-industrial complex, and to stimulate integration processes within the EAEU.

The meeting’s participants discussed the prospects and areas of the Member States’ cooperation with the Argentine Republic under the EEC’s coordination , and the proposals of the Government Secretariat on joint work in the field of meat cattle breeding and on using biotechnology.
