EIC Outcomes

A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council was held in the form of a video conference on April 10.
The EIC members adopted a package of measures to be taken in the Eurasian Economic Union to ensure the vital needs of the population, maintain mutual trade and free movement of goods in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and create conditions for subsequent economic growth.
Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 were considered.
It was also decided to create a mechanism for applying certificates of origin for serial products manufactured in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The EIC instructed the EEC Board together with the governments of the EAEU countries to prepare acts amending the EAEU law concerning international electronic commerce. In other words, to shape efficient mechanisms for integrated legal regulation in this area.
The mechanisms will cover placing goods purchased on foreign Internet marketplaces and imported to individuals and legal entities into a separate category and establishing a number of specific features in relation thereto.
The EIC members took due note of the information provided in the report "On Macroeconomic Situation in the Eurasian Economic Union Member States and Proposals for Ensuring Sustainable Economic Development".
An extraordinary meeting of the EIC is scheduled for April 23. It will be held in video conference mode.​
