Plan to control COVID-19 and other infectious diseases adopted

7/17/2020
The Intergovernmental Council has approved a Comprehensive Plan of measures in the field of health and sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population to prevent spreading coronavirus in the Eurasian Economic Union.

It is planned to exchange information, implement a coordinated algorithm for responding to infectious disease outbreaks and jointly develop recommendations for laboratory research. Joint research activities are scheduled to ensure access to high-quality, safe, effective diagnostic tools and vaccines as well as software and hardware to counter infectious diseases. It is planned to hold joint exercises for specialists of the EAEU States’ relevant organizations to perfect response measures to outbreaks of known and new infectious diseases and publish official information about registered manufacturers of medical devices required to control dangerous infections.

Implementing measures included in the plan will help to strengthen common potential of the EAEU countries' health system, which will be in demand in the Union not only in the fight against COVID-19, but also other infectious diseases. Implementing joint activities of the Comprehensive Plan will help to prevent possible future epidemics.
