The terms for the temporary import of cars into the EAEU have been extended.

5/18/2020

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission extended the terms of temporary stay of cars and other vehicles of natural persons in the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union until this September 30.

Thus, citizens who temporarily imported cars and other equipment are exempt from the obligation to re-export them from the EAEU until September 30 and, accordingly, they will not be subject to administrative measures and customs payments.

The decision also applies to citizens who arrived from Kaliningrad region in their cars, which were “cleared on a preferential basis”, and could not return home.

The Council also suspended until September 30 a period of 18 months, within which foreign citizens, who have received the status of a person moving to the EAEU for permanent residence, a refugee, or an internally displaced person, are allowed to bring their personal property to the Union on a preferential, duty-free basis.

The decision applies to cases that arose or will arise from March 1 to September 30 of this year.

The decision was made due to the inability of citizens to exercise their rights and fulfill their obligations in connection with the measures taken in the EAEU to combat coronavirus infection.
