The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) is ready to support the leading companies of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) producing medical equipment in the process of building interaction within the industrial cooperation and import substitution. Tigran Harutyunyan, Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Commission, said this during a visit to the plant of the Istok-Audio Group of Companies - a high-tech Russian enterprise for the production of technical means of diagnostics, prosthetics and rehabilitation for patients with disabilities.

“The development of production of medical equipment and technical means in the EAEU as part of the implementation of import substitution programs, in particular, cochlear implants, is a socially important task”, stressed Tigran Harutyunyan. “As a result, consumers with disabilities will benefit. The release of these goods in the Union countries will make it possible to achieve a significant reduction in the expenditures of national budgets within the framework of financing programs for the provision of high-tech medical care to citizens”.

The members of the EEC delegation got acquainted with the production process, assessed the potential and possibilities of production, and also examined some types of products, noting the high level of innovative production capacities of the enterprise and the quality of products.

In addition, during the visit, the parties discussed the state of the market for cochlear implantation, hearing therapy and specialized medical equipment in the EAEU, possible ways of incorporating the world practice into the production of such systems, as well as prospects for the transition of the Union medical institutions to the use of EAEU medical products in the treatment and diagnosis.
