EAEU zeroed duties on goods imported to prevent and avert spreading of coronavirus infection

The decision of the Commission’s Council adopted outside of normal schedule at the meeting held on March 16, on exempting from import customs duties the goods imported to prevent and avert the spreading of the coronavirus infection across the Eurasian Economic Union was published.

According to Andrey Slepnev, Member of the Board – EEC Minister in charge of Trade, "the decision applies first of all to personal protective equipment, disinfectants, diagnostic reagents, certain types of medical equipment and materials. The goods for controlling the coronavirus infection, protecting and treating the population will be imported with exemption from import custom duties based on the intended purpose confirmed by national competent public health authorities".

The Decision applies to medical goods imported into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union during the period from March 16, 2020, and will be valid until September 30, 2020.​
