Congratulations on the third anniversary of signing the Treat y on the Eurasian Economic Union

5/29/2017

Dear friends,

On May 29, 3 years ago, in Astana, the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which marks the beginning of a qualitatively new stage of integration development in the Eurasian space. After quite a little time, the document was signed by the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and the President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev.

Today, the EAEU is an association of equal partners, a common economic space, a union of countries and peoples with huge potential and great opportunities.

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in cooperation with the Union countries is doing everything it can to achieve the main goals of our integration association - ensuring conditions for the stable development of the economies of the Member States, creating cooperative chains within the Union, industrial upgrading and innovation introducing in all areas of activities. This will improve the living standards of our citizens, create comfortable environment to realize their abilities and intellectual potential.

In the short time, we have managed to form a supra-national legal framework and made important steps towards deepening integration through implementing in the space of the Union of four "freedom": movement of goods, services, capital and labour.

Already today, the business community and the people of our countries can feel the pros from the creation of the EAEU. Mutual recognition of diplomas, exclusion of double taxation of natural persons, guarantees for free health care for migrant workers, etc. Conditions for mutual trade are facilitated. In May 2017, the common market of medicines and medical products was launched. The EAEU Customs Code was adopted.

The Eurasian Economic Union became an attractive partner for many foreign countries: around 50 countries and associations expressed the desire to develop trade and economic cooperation with the EAEU. We participate in the implementation of a long-term project for conjunction of the EAEU and the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB).

Today we already can say – the idea of a Eurasian economic association became a reality having acquired a new dynamic and changing the nature of interaction between the countries throughout the continent.

Congratulations with a milestone in our history!

I wish peace and prosperity to all us!

The Chairman of the EEC Board
Tigran Sarkisyan
