EAEU countries outlined new format of interaction in light of COVID-19 pandemic

3/30/2020
The Disposition of the EEC Extraordinary Council (held on March 25) on implementing measures to prevent spreading COVID-19 coronavirus infection and eliminate negative consequences for the EAEU States’ economies was published. The document refers to the format of interaction between the Union States in new conditions.

For instance, the countries’ governments are invited to proceed from the need to hold preliminary consultations in a prompt manner at the level of Members of the Commission’s Council on draft regulations for introducing temporary restrictions related to the exceptional need to respond to the spreading of COVID-19. Along with that, the Commission shall ensure holding of relevant consultations no later than 2 calendar days. Furthermore, the EAEU countries that initiate temporary restrictions are invited to envisage proposals on possible humanitarian aid.

The Commission shall, in interaction with the Union countries’ governments, draft proposals by April 3 on forming a package of systemic measures to prevent spreading COVID-19 infection across the EAEU in light of pandemic.
