Brief Overview of the Commission and the Department
-----The Eurasian Economic Commission (Commission) is the permanent supranational regulatory body of the Customs Union (CU) and the Single Economic Space (SES) formed by the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Russian Federation.
-----The Commission was established in 2012 by the Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The main function of the Commission is to facilitate proper functioning of the CU and the SES, and to adopt guidelines and design proposals (recommendations) for economic integration.
-----The Macroeconomic Policy Department is a structural unit of the Commission charged with enhancing coordination of socio-economic development policies of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
-----The principal  document governing the Department’s operations is the Agreement on Coordinated Macroeconomic Policy, dated 9 December 2010.
-----The four main activities of the Department are:
-----1.Macroeconomic analysis and forecasting.
-----2.Enhancing and monitoring the implementation of inter-state agreements on macroeconomic policy.
-----3.Drafting (coordination of drafting) of norms and guidelines for harmonized macroeconomic policy.
-----4.Accumulation and dissemination of experience and expertise in the field of macroeconomic policy.
-----There are three sections within the Department:
-----The Economic Policy Strategies Section.
-----The Forecasting and Research Section.
-----The Macroeconomic Policy Coordination Section. 
Brief information on the sections

The tasks of the Economic Policy Strategies Section are:
-----To analyze official forecasts (programmes, plans) for development of the economy and economic sectors, and to prepare opinions on documents for the purpose of implementing the responsibilities of the Commission.
-----To make proposals for the creation of a system of strategic economic development goals for the SES, and for coordinated actions to achieve those goals.
-----To make proposals for improvement of the international legislative base for the setting of strategic goals, and for its implementation in national legislation.
-----To draft and coordinate drafting of strategy documents on economic development within the framework of the Commission’s responsibilities.
-----To prepare reports, surveys, briefing notes and other analytical materials and presentations on the setting of strategic goals.
-----The  tasks of the Forecasting and Research Section are:
-----Monitoring of the current economic situation and development prospects of the SES economies, including fiscal and monetary policy issues and other aspects of public policy related to socio-economic development.
-----Forecasting key macroeconomic variables and indicators of socio-economic development for the SES economies.
-----Conducting quality research on issues related to economic development, macroeconomic policy, economic integration, and international trade.
-----Preparing reports, surveys, briefing notes and other analytical materials and presentations on current and future developments of the SES economies.
-----Developing the broad principles and parameters for national socio-economic forecast scenarios and for coordinated macroeconomic policy of the SES member states.
-----Consulting the other departments on issues related to macroeconomic policy.
-----The tasks of the Macroeconomic Policy Coordination Section are:
-----To coordinate the implementation by member states of agreements in the field of macroeconomic policy.
-----To draft and coordinate drafting of documents pursuant to such agreements.
-----To oversee incorporation of the provisions of such agreements into national legislation of member states.
-----To draft resolutions of the Commission on macroeconomic policy issues and provide expert opinions on drafts of international treaties and agreements.
-----To draft reports, surveys, briefing notes and other analytical reports and presentations on the implementation of documents on coordinated macroeconomic policy.
-----To analyze trends of sustainable economic development indicators in member states and other parameters envisaged by inter-state treaties and agreements, and to propose measures to address any negative trends.
-----To organize and implement supervision of work by advisory and consultative bodies on issues of macroeconomic policy.
