Dialogue of EAEU cultures to make economic integration closer to people

This conclusion was reached by attendees of the annual international media forum of young journalists "Dialogue of Cultures" held on April 14 in St. Petersburg for the fifteenth time. For the first time in the forum’s history, a separate meeting was devoted to the Eurasian theme. Journalists and bloggers of the Union countries spoke up about challenges they face and what is required to heighten the audience’s interest in the EAEU activities. First of all, the countries and people should communicate more and trust each other, be integrated in the cultural sphere and the Commission should talk openly about citizens’ interests.

Iya Malkina, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission and Assistant to the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board, noted low awareness of the EAEU countries’ citizens about the integration association activities and invited young journalists and bloggers to cover the Eurasian integration more.

"The Eurasian Economic Union is our reality, even if we do not think about it. The Commission works on forming the Union as a possibility space where the younger generation will be able to fulfill themselves," she stressed.

The event was attended by leading journalists and media leaders of the EAEU countries, including Ilya Doronov, Managing Director of the RBC TV channel, Vitaly Tretyakov, Dean of the Higher School of Television of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Marina Zakharova, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Regnum News Agency, Kirill Vyshinsky, Executive Director of the Russia Today News Agency, Andrey Krivosheev, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, Nikolay Enikolopov, Chief Editor of the Vesti Nedeli program, as well as other journalists and bloggers.

The event was moderated by Ashot Jazoyan, Chairman of the Mediacongress "Commonwealth of Journalists" and Secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia. During the meeting, Ashot Jazoyan presented awards to TV presenters Vladimir Pozner and Zhanna Badoeva as the best journalists according to the young generation of media representatives and bloggers.

The media forum was organized by the Mediacongress "Commonwealth of Journalists" and the State Hermitage Museum, with the support from the EEC and the Eurasian Development Bank.

Besides, later in the day at the EEC’s headquarters, representatives of the mass media and sectoral analytical publications of the EAEU countries received accreditation cards for working at the Commission’s open events, valid for a year.

This year, the Commission has granted permanent media accreditation for the first time. This was done to ensure transparency of the EEC’s work and to create conditions required for professional activities of journalists from the Union countries.

Applications for accreditation were received from such mass media of the Union States as Russia Today International News Agency, Sputnik International News Agency, TASS News Agency, Interfax, RBC TV channel, Mir TV channel, BelTA, Kazinform News Agency, Khabar TV channel, Belteleradiocompany, All-Nation Television, Public Television and Radio Corporation of the Kyrgyz Republic, Public Television of Armenia and others. The accreditation list includes more than 70 journalists.

The accreditation cards were presented by Daniyar Turusbekov, Director of the EEC Protocol and Organizational Support Department.

Owing to closer information cooperation between the Eurasian mass media and the Commission, the EAEU countries’ citizens will receive up-to-date and objective information about the Eurasian integration without delay.
