Memorandum on Trade & Economic Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of Mongolia is Signed
On June 17, in Moscow, in the Headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Chairman of the EEC Board Victor Khristenko and the Prime Minister of Mongolia Chimediin Saikhanbileg signed the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of Mongolia.
On June 17, in Moscow, in the Headquarters of the Eurasian
Economic Commission, the Chairman of the EEC Board Victor Khristenko and the
Prime Minister of Mongolia Chimediin Saikhanbileg signed the Memorandum on
Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of
Mongolia.
The goal of the signed document is promotion of development
of comprehensive cooperation between the Member States of the Eurasian Economic
Union (the EAEU) and Mongolia, increase of efficiency of mutual trade and
implementation of measures aimed at eliminating barriers preventing trade
development. "The Parties concluded the Memorandum in effort to unlock new
gains of trade and economic cooperation," - the document declares.
The Chairman of the EEC Board declared: "The Parties
concluded the Memorandum in effort to unlock new gains of trade and economic
cooperation of the EAEU Member States and Mongolia."
The Parties will develop trade and economic cooperation in a
number of areas. In particular, in transport - in order to create efficient,
reliable and stable transport routes and to deliver transport services. In
agroindustrial complex - in order to ensure food security, as well as to create
conditions for increasing competitiveness of the subjects of agroindustrial
complex of the EAEU Member States and Mongolia. In competition policy - in
order to develop fair competition for ensuring growth of business activity,
balanced trade and production of quality goods. Interaction will be also
developed in trade policy, technical regulation, sanitary, veterinary and
sanitary and quarantine phytosanitary measures.
The Memorandum provides for establishing a working group on
cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of
Mongolia in order to develop a dialogue and to elaborate issues of cooperation
between the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia within
competences of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

After entry into force of the Treaty on the Eurasian
Economic Union, the Mongolian Party expressed interest in interacting with the
Eurasian Economic Commission in order to jointly examine the opportunities of
activation of trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU Member States and
Mongolia.
On March 25-28, 2015 with the support of embassies of the
Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation to
Mongolia, a working visit of the Member of the Board - Minister in charge of
Development of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC Tatyana Valovaya took
place in Ulan Bator during which the Mongolian Party came forward with the
proposal to sign a Memorandum on Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic
Commission and the Government of Mongolia.
Interest of the Mongolian Party in signing the Memorandum
was confirmed by the personal representative of the President of Mongolia in
charge of Economic, Infrastructure and Investment Relations with the Russian
Federation Luvsandandar Khangai during the meeting with Tatyana Valovaya on
April 15, 2015.
On May 7, 2015 in Moscow, the Chairman of the EEC Board
Victor Khristenko held a meeting with the President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin
Elbegdorj following which a mutual intention to sign the Memorandum in the
nearest future was expressed.
