On March 13, a joint online educational course "Cultivation of valuable fish species in recirculating aquaculture systems" was opened involving the university administrations of the Eurasian Economic Union countries under the coordination of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Agricultural Unit and the Federal Agency for Fisheries. The relevance and importance of the topic selected for the educational workshop is due to the need to develop competencies in all areas of the technological chain of aquaculture production, in view of the dynamic development of this industry in the EAEU countries.
"Today, the education sector in our countries is faced with the task of training specialists who meet the modern trends of innovative economic development. Therefore, it is important to form skills and knowledge oriented to the practical needs of businesses, as well as taking into account the rapid emergence and introduction of new technologies," emphasized Armen Harutyunyan, Director of the EEC Agricultural Policy Department.
The project is participated by 14 educational organizations from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The demand for the course is confirmed by the interest of more than 350 students.
In the current academic semester, online lectures will be held on disciplines of mutual interest to students. By studying the course program, students from leading universities in the field of aquaculture have the opportunity to exchange experience and learn new skills.
"I am confident that the knowledge gained from the new joint educational project in the field of aquaculture production will contribute to the competitive growth of the entire industry," Armen Harutyunyan noted.
Vasily Sokolov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, addressed the course participants with a welcoming remarks. In his speech, he noted that technological modernization, development of import substitution, and improvement of human resources are required to improve the efficiency of the fish farming industry. Such projects solve these tasks by broadening the mind and "building bridges" between educational institutions. Such joint projects are useful for the business community, as they create a pool of skilled personnel capable of solving issues at the modern innovative level.
At the end of the semester, students will receive certificates of attendance.
