On December 1 in Irkutsk, Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held negotiations with Jadamba Enkhbayar, First Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia, on the sidelines of the first Forum of Regions of Russia and Mongolia that brought together representatives of authorities, business and expert communities of the two countries.

The parties discussed specific steps to be taken for the Interim Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Mongolia signed on June 27 this year to become fully effective as soon as possible.

"Before the document comes into force, it is necessary to take a range of important steps so that expectations of the parties are fully met," Andrey Slepnev stressed.

"The agreement is economic but extends far beyond trade and economic relations and is of great significance," Jadamba Enkhbayar mentioned.

At the meeting of the heads of Russian and Mongolian delegations Andrey Slepnev took part in discussing a range of measures aimed at comprehensive promotion of trade and economic cooperation between the countries.

"Healthy trade is balanced trade. Russia is interested in the agreement to become functional and our countries gaining real benefits," said Alexey Overchuk, head of the Russian delegation and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

In his speech at the plenary session of the Forum Andrey Slepnev informed the participants about the conditions shaped by the Interim Trade Agreement.

"Our arrangements are intended not only to contribute to boosting trade but also to support the implementation of major investment projects that are discussed between Russia, Mongolia and China and in particular cover railway infrastructure including its digitalization, as well as energy, agriculture and industry," the EEC Minister summed up.
