21.12.2025

Shortly before singing the Free Trade Agreement with Indonesia, Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a meeting with Budi Santoso, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Trade turnover of the Eurasian Economic Union countries with Indonesia grows strongly. That said, we are well aware that our trade has a great unfulfilled potential," noted the EEC Minister.

He reminded that negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement with Indonesia were initiated in December 2022 and as a result of fruitful work arrangements were made on a mutually beneficial deal covering a wide nomenclature of goods.

During the meeting Ministers agreed on the need to maintain an active dialogue on the future implementation of the agreement as early as at the ratification stage primarily focusing on eliminating obstacles to trade growth.

"The Agreement also includes provisions advancing cooperation across a wide range of development areas that define the future of the economies that are parties to the Agreement. Among the priorities for us are digital trade, logistics, scientific research, energy efficiency, cutting-edge medical technologies, joint educational programs and projects," Andrey Slepnev added.

As was reported earlier, the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Indonesia is expected to be signed on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 21.
