Armen Harutyunyan presented EAEU's initiatives in agricultural sector at Global Summit on Agricultural Technologies

Armen Harutyunyan, Director of the EEC Agricultural Policy Department, spoke about the sustainable development of agriculture and the use of digital technologies in the agricultural sector of the Eurasian Economic Union countries at the Global Summit on Agricultural Technologies on the sidelines of the Food 4 Future International Exhibition in Bilbao (Spain).

In his speech, the Director of the Commission's Department presented the Union's ongoing initiatives - the concept of the digital platform for the agricultural sector, the EEC's recommendation on promising areas for the precision farming development, assessment of the alternative protein market potential (vegetable meat), as well as the analysis of the aquaculture development and approaches to its sustainable development.

"We believe that using digital technologies in the agricultural sector will contribute to product cost optimization, more rational resource use, and increased value chain efficiency," Armen Harutyunyan emphasized. "International experience shows the importance of promoting internet accessibility in rural areas, implementing acceleration and digital literacy programs, and digitalizing public services, such as subsidy provision."

The Director of the EEC Department also got familiarized with advanced technological solutions in global agriculture, held meetings with international experts and representatives of industry companies, and answered some questions from foreign journalists.
