Arzybek Kozhoshev held working meeting with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation

On April 7, a working meeting was held between Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Kazem Jalali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation. 

At the meeting, Arzybek Kozhoshev and Kazem Jalali emphasized the relevance of scaling up cooperation in developing the North-South international transport corridor, creating the most seamless and comfortable way to transport goods to the ports of the Persian Gulf and unlocking the logistics potential between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union Member States.

The parties exchanged information on the work aimed at creating and developing transport corridors and routes.

Arzybek Kozhoshev noted that in 2022 the Heads of Governments of the EAEU countries approved the List of priority integration infrastructure projects in the field of transport. These projects are aimed at developing the transport infrastructure that is a part of the international transport corridors in the East-West and North-South directions as well as implementing the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative. 

The EEC Minister expressed confidence that developing cooperation in the field of transport would have a positive impact on the economies of Iran and the Union countries.

An arrangement was reached to continue cooperation, including to hold meetings on interaction with the Minister of Transport and Urban Development of Iran.

Iran is among the countries the EAEU is in constant dialogue with regarding trade agreements. The Interim Agreement leading to the formation of a free trade area between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States, on the one part, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the other part, was signed on May 17, 2018 and came into effect on October 27, 2019.
