On July 17, Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, met with Ms. Rabab Fatima, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Arzybek Kozhoshev expressed his commendation for the intense and continuous activities that the High Representative's Office is conducting for vulnerable groups of States and emphasized the importance of the UN efforts to promote the international agenda on transport connectivity.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed priority issues of sustainable transport development, regional integration, and expanding trade and economic opportunities for landlocked countries. The Minister has noted that the EEC attaches key importance to shaping a common transport space, eliminating infrastructural and administrative barriers, as well as fostering digital transformation of logistics.

Summing up the meeting, Arzybek Kozhoshev expressed his hope that the exchange of views would lay the foundation for long-term and constructive cooperation between the EEC and the High Representative's Office.

The Office of the United Nations High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2001 to support a number of vulnerable States facing unique challenges in achieving sustainable development goals and fulfilling international obligations.
