Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission held a working meeting with Marlen Mamataliev, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the formation of common energy markets within the EAEU, the development of international transport corridors in the Eurasian space, and the implementation of reforms in the area of migration legislation in the Russian Federation.
Arzybek Kozhoshev shared information on the implementation of the Action Plan for the formation of a unified electricity market, common markets for oil and petroleum products, and ongoing work to develop a common gas market for the Union by 2030. He also conveyed information on the comprehensive development of cooperation between Member States in the field of alternative energy sources and the development of nuclear energy, aimed at strengthening the sustainability of energy systems and promoting low-carbon development within the Union.
Marlen Mamataliev noted the high significance of the Commission's work and expressed confidence in the continuation of substantive discussions on sensitive issues related to the formation of energy markets and the search for mutually acceptable solutions, given their importance not only for the Kyrgyz Republic but also for all EAEU Member States.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of large-scale transport, logistics and energy projects in the Kyrgyz Republic, which have regional and integration significance.
The EEC Minister also reported on the progress of implementing policy documents in the field of transport and thanked the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh for the prompt completion of the ratification procedures for the Agreement on Permissible Weights, Axle Loads, and Dimensions of Vehicles when traveling on the highways of the EAEU States included in the Eurasian transport corridors. The Agreement is expected to enter into effect very soon. It aims to eliminate one of the limitations in the Union's internal market – the discrepancy between requirements to the weight and dimensions of vehicles.
The Commission outlined further steps to fulfill the roadmap for the implementation of the Declaration on the Further Development of Economic Processes within the Eurasian Economic Union until 2030 and for the period until 2045, the "Eurasian Economic Path", in the field of energy and infrastructure.
All these measures will strengthen economic ties within the EAEU and contribute to the development of international cooperation in the context of geopolitical turbulence in the world.
