Bakytzhan Sagintayev took part in 21st session of UNIDO General Conference

On November 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board, took part in the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) at the Global Industry Summit 2025.


The high-level meeting was focused on "The Power of Investment and Partnerships to Accelerate the SDGs." Heads of State and Government, ministers, high-ranking officials from international organizations, and representatives of the private and banking sectors discussed a wide range of issues. In particular, they reviewed new approaches to making progress in global industrialization. The Forum delegates touched upon digital transformation of enterprises, attracting investment, coordinated cooperation for technology transfer, trade promotion, jobs creation, building new logistics chains and sustainable industry facilitation through achieving the UN SDGs. The parties have concurred that to efficiently address the issues on the global industrial agenda, one should develop practical guidance for businesses. The discussion results and key findings can be found in the forthcoming UNIDO's annual report. The Eurasian Economic Commission attaches particular importance to interacting with UNIDO as a key UN agency on industrial development, including in terms of implementing joint programs and projects. UNIDO is a United Nations specialized agency. The Organization's primary objective is to promote and accelerate the developing and transition economies' industrial performance and to encourage international industrial cooperation. The General Conference is UNIDO's supreme governing body bringing together all of its 173 Member States every two years.
