Bakytzhan Sagintaev held negotiations with Botirzhon Asadov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia

A working meeting between Bakytzhan Sagintaev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Botirzhon Asadov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation, was held on March 19 at the Eurasian Economic Commission's headquarters.

During the conversation, there was a thorough exchange of views on further development of trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union States and Uzbekistan.

In particular, the parties considered the implementation of the Joint Action Plan of the EEC and the Government of Uzbekistan for 2024 – 2026.

The Chairman of the EEC Board emphasized that at present Uzbekistan ranks first among the EAEU trade partners from the CIS countries.

“Foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the Eurasian “Five” States increased by 7.3% in 2024 compared to 2023, amounting to 17.5 bln US dollars. The EAEU countries account for more than a quarter of Uzbekistan's total foreign trade turnover,” Bakytzhan Sagintaev noted.

The parties noted the activities of the Joint Working Group established under the Memorandum of Interaction between the EEC and the Government of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, Bakytzhan Sagintaev invited the Uzbek delegation to take part in the main business event of the EAEU – the Eurasian Economic Forum to be held in June 2025 in Minsk.
