The two sides discussed the results and prospects for interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union States and Peru within the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2015.
“In implementing the Memorandum, we have gained significant experience in practical cooperation. Meetings of the joint Working Group were held in 2016 in Lima and in 2019 in Moscow, involving representatives of public authorities and the business circles of our countries,” Bakytzhan Sagintayev mentioned.
These events served as an efficient platform for discussing the prospects of industry cooperation and expanding mutual trade. At year-end 2025, the foreign trade turnover between the EAEU countries and Peru reached 679.2 mln dollars, increasing by 13.7% compared to 2024.
As the Head of the EEC Board emphasized, the established interaction is naturally complemented by a multilateral dimension. In this regard, he expressed gratitude to the Peruvian side for promoting further dialogue between the EEC and the Andean Community.
“Such multilateral formats act as a catalyst for expanding economic ties in trade between the EAEU and the Latin American region. We expect Peru to continue playing an active role as a link between the Commission and the Andean Community,” Bakytzhan Sagintayev concluded.
Following the meeting, the two sides confirmed their mutual interest in implementing the planned economic initiatives.
