More than 2/3 of the Eurasian Economic Union's public procurement use open competitive procurement methods, 99% of which are conducted in electronic format.
This and other statistical results of mutual participation were reported by Nurlan Begaliev, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Competition and Public Procurement Policy Department, at the International Forum of Contractual Relations in the section "Features of placement and regulation of public procurement in the EAEU and BRICS countries. Points of Contact in Procurement" in St. Petersburg.
According to Nurlan Begaliev, in today's context, public procurement is an important tool for ensuring economic development and expanding international cooperation of the Union countries. In many respects, this is why the EAEU pays special attention to this area.
The Commission is now working on a number of areas, the implementation of which will provide non-resident suppliers with even more opportunities for unhindered participation in public procurement across the Union.
Among the significant results of this work Nurlan Begaliev named signing the EAEU international treaty on mutual recognition of bank guarantees for public procurement, developing the Rules on mutual recognition of electronic digital signatures for public procurement, addressing the issue to establish common rules for determining the country of origin of goods in the EAEU for these purposes.
