Number of checkpoints at EAEU customs border, where customs authorities perform certain functions of border guard service, to reach 20 by this year-end

Issues of interaction between regulatory authorities at the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union were considered at a meeting of the sector-specific Advisory Committee chaired by Daniyar Imanaliev, Director of the Customs Infrastructure Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held on April 26.

The meeting attendees discussed the project being implemented in the Republic of Belarus on exercising by the customs authorities at checkpoints of certain functions of border guard agencies in respect of a limited number of natural persons — drivers of freight vehicles, as well as members of train and air crews.

It was noted that in 2023 certain functions of the border service agencies were transferred to the customs authorities at four checkpoints ("Bruzgi" Auto Crossing Point, "Urbany" Auto Crossing Point, "Brest" Rail Road Crossing Point, and "Privalka" Auto Crossing Point), and this work will be completed at four more checkpoints by this year-end ("Kamenny Log" Auto Crossing Point, "Berestovitsa" Auto Crossing Point, and "Bruzgi" Rail Road Crossing Point). Therefore, the total number of checkpoints at the Union's customs border, where the customs authorities act as the border guard service, will reach 20 checkpoints by the end of the year.

As part of the progress on implementing the EEC Council's Decision No. 6 dated February 22, 2019, the Advisory Committee's members have noted the importance of informing on the state, dynamics and trends in developing the customs infrastructure at points where goods are moved across the customs border of the Union countries.
