Daniiar Imanaliev: “Morocco could become a reliable partner for the EAEU in the region”
Issues related to developing cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of Morocco were discussed by Daniiar Imanaliev, EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, and Lotfi Bouchaara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Russian Federation.

“Trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and Morocco has significant potential,” the EEC Minister noted. “Trade turnover between the EAEU countries and Morocco continues to demonstrate positive dynamics: in 2025 it increased by 17% and exceeded USD 2 billion.”

According to Daniiar Imanaliev, the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of Morocco provides a solid basis for developing dialogue on a broad range of economic issues and is aimed at informing government authorities and business circles about current regulatory developments in various sectors.

For his part, the head of the Moroccan diplomatic mission drew attention to the prospects for expanding trade and economic relations with the EAEU countries, as well as the opportunities available to the EAEU Member States for developing economic ties with the African region as a whole through Morocco’s potential.

The parties emphasized the importance of developing sectoral cooperation on topical issues and expressed their readiness to organize relevant consultations, including those aimed at informing the business communities of the EAEU countries and Morocco.

The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco was signed in Rabat on September 28, 2017. The document is aimed at strengthening economic relations and cooperation, including the expansion and diversification of trade ties and facilitating mutual market access.

Morocco benefits from tariff preferences under the EAEU preferential system. This means that reduced or zero tariffs may apply to certain Moroccan goods imported into the EAEU.
