EEC delegation attended 21st Annual Conference of International Competition Network

Relevant matters of competition policy and law enforcement, international experience of antitrust regulation, digital transformation of competition authorities and others were discussed by attendees of the 21st Annual Conference of the International Competition Network held on May 4-6 in Berlin. It bears reminding that last year the Eurasian Economic Commission gained membership in the International Competition Network (ICN). Representatives of the EEC Competition and Antitrust Regulation Unit became participants of the ICN Working Groups on competition advocacy, cartels, performance evaluation of competition authorities, etc.

According to Arman Shakkaliev, EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation, the Commission, as the ICN member, participates in the Organization's annual conferences, has the opportunity to discuss the most relevant matters of competition policy, law enforcement and competition advocacy with antitrust regulators across the globe as well as to develop joint decisions and recommendations regarding practical competition problems.
"On the conference’s sidelines, we held a series of negotiations with representatives of competition authorities from different countries and intergovernmental organizations, discussed global best practices in the field of competition regulation, including digital markets and efficient enforcement of competition norms and standards. In the future, we are going to use this experience to improve the Commission’s competition legislation and law enforcement practice to regulate competition in the EAEU transboundary markets", the Minister commented.

The EEC delegation also attended the 21st International Conference on Competition held on the sidelines of the ICN Conference on May 4. The event has been held by the German Competition Authority (Bundeskartellamt) every other year since the early 1980s. It is a venue where competition experts from more than 60 countries and high-ranking representatives of politics, manufacturing industry and academic circles discuss current issues of competition policy and legislation.
