EEC Department for Internal Market Functioning improves interaction channels with EAEU countries’ business community

On September 17, the EEC Department for Internal Market Functioning held a meeting of the Expert Group on removing barriers, exceptions and restrictions in the Eurasian Economic Union. The meeting was chaired by Almaz Sazbakov, Director of the EEC Department for Internal Market Functioning, via videoconferencing. The meeting was attended by representatives of business structures and associations of all EAEU countries.

The meeting discussed a wide range of issues – from updating the Expert Group’s objectives and improving the interaction channels to involving the business community in economic assessment of obstacles influencing internal trade.

"Developing interaction and rapid response to business applications will enable to efficiently solve still existing difficulties in mutual trade," Almaz Sazbakov noted.

Elena Perminova, Deputy Director of the EEC Department for Internal Market Functioning, was appointed executive officer in charge of interaction with the business community. According to her, the Department is open for substantive interaction with all business associations of the Union countries and looks forward to strengthening and developing cooperation.

Developing the Eurasian internal market will depend on how meaningful and trust-based the new format of dialogue with the business community will be.

During the meeting, the attendees also exchanged views on improving the register of business applications and, in general, the information portal "Functioning of Internal Markets of the Eurasian Economic Union", digital systematization of information on removing obstacles and problems with operation of overhauled railway trains.

The Expert Group’s meetings will be held every first Thursday of the month at 11:00 a.m. via videoconferencing. The next meeting is scheduled for October 7.
