On June 3, a joint EAEU–ASEAN seminar entitled “Exchange of Experience in Air Cargo Transportation” was held at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) under the chairmanship of Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure.
The seminar participants discussed current issues related to the development of air cargo transportation in the EAEU and ASEAN countries, including key challenges and risks in this area.
Representatives of government authorities, businesses, international organizations, and the scientific community of the EAEU and ASEAN shared up-to-date information on the implementation of electronic transport documents in air cargo transportation, international standards for transport information systems and services, as well as technologies and innovations in aviation logistics.“Given the growing trade flows between Eurasia and Southeast Asia, as well as the demand for fast and reliable cargo delivery, particularly for perishable and high-tech goods, coordinating efforts to develop air corridors and logistics hubs is becoming a strategically important task,” Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, noted in his welcoming remarks for the seminar participants.
The seminar agenda also included issues related to creating conditions for fleet renewal, modernization and development of airport ground infrastructure, and ensuring non-discriminatory access of airlines to aviation infrastructure.
The seminar attendees expressed their willingness to continue cooperation in this area at various levels, both between the ASEAN Secretariat and the EEC and between the governments and business communities of the two organizations.“The implementation of successful practices from our regional organizations can significantly improve the performance of the EAEU and ASEAN in transport connectivity and transit transportation between Europe and Asia,” emphasized Rustan Dzhenalinov, Director of the EEC Transport and Infrastructure Department.
