EAEU to extend exemptions for importing certain types of civil passenger aircraft

The Eurasian Economic Commission’s Council has decided to extend the validity of the tariff exemption for importing certain types of civil passenger aircraft.

In particular, the exemption for turbojet aircraft with a seating capacity of 110 to 300 people has been extended until December 31, 2031, and the exemption for turboprop airliners with a seating capacity of up to 90 people has been extended until the end of 2025.

"The approved measure will enable giving support to the aviation, which is one of the most affected industries during the pandemic period. In the current economic environment, airline companies are forced to alter their preformed plans for the aircraft acquisition," explained Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister in charge of Trade.

According to him, the exemption will also have a dampening effect on the rise in the cost of air transportation for citizens and will contribute to improving the competitiveness of the Eurasian Economic Union’s airlines in the global market.

"The EAEU fleet renewal and increase is of particular importance in light of emerging external constraints. The fleet increase will be good for developing the Union’s transit potential," Andrey Slepnev added.
