EEC and antitrust regulator of Belarus discussed issues of cooperation in the field of competition

Interaction in conducting investigations of competition rule violations in the Eurasian Economic Union, regulation in the field of public procurement and other issues were discussed by Arman Shakkaliev, Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Vladimir Koltovich, Head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus, during a working meeting held in Minsk.

Besides, the sides touched upon the issues of digital market regulation - harmonization of approaches to assessing competition in such markets.

The Belarusian side endorsed the EEC initiative on the need to simultaneously recognize medicines in all the Union countries as well as to create an information platform – a kind of database of medicines put into circulation in the EAEU States.

"Cooperation with national regulators is particularly valuable for the Commission as a supranational authority. This helps us to compare notes, identify burning issues in the field of antitrust regulation, law enforcement practice and legislation improvement", Arman Shakkaliev commented on the meeting outcomes.
The sides agreed to continue the dialogue within the consultation of the Heads of the EAEU countries’ competition agencies and the EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation in the 5+1 format to be held on December 23 of the outgoing year.
