EEC and Bangladesh discussed priorities of trade and economic cooperation

A meeting between Daniyar Imanaliev, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Russian Federation, was held at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The meeting discussed key areas of interaction between the EEC and Bangladesh, as well as practical issues of implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation.

“The EEC-Bangladesh dialogue is developing progressively and becoming more practical,” the EEC Minister noted. “Its implementation contributes to expanding trade and economic cooperation between our countries and creating additional opportunities to improve the economic competitiveness of both EAEU Member States and Bangladesh.”

Mohammad Nazrul Islam expressed Bangladesh's interest in developing interaction with each of the Eurasian Economic Union countries. The promising areas include cooperation in the manufacturing industry and agricultural sector, as well as technological development. Special attention was paid to intensifying business contacts for the practical implementation of joint initiatives.

The two parties also discussed the high potential for developing interaction between the EEC and Bangladesh at the venues of international structures such as the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, and the Indian Ocean Rim Association.

Concluding the meeting, Daniyar Imanaliev invited Mohammad Nazrul Islam to participate in the Eurasian Economic Forum events, to be held on May 28-29 in Astana.
