On May 28, on the sidelines of the 5th Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the EEC Board, and Sergey Lebedev, CIS Secretary General, signed an Action Plan for 2026 – 2030 for implementing the Memorandum on Deepening Interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

“The dialogue of integration associations is becoming a significant development trend amid global changes in the world economic architecture. “Our common objective is to promote the creation of a space for mutually beneficial cooperation by coupling the States' potential and existing integration frameworks,” Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted.

The document lays the foundation for implementing joint projects and holding thematic events. The Plan places particular emphasis on trade development and interaction in the manufacturing industry, transport, energy, customs cooperation, technical regulation, and sanitary, veterinary-sanitary, and phytosanitary quarantine measures.

Its implementation will help intensify trade and economic dialogue between the Eurasian Economic Union States and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States not being the EAEU members, as well as promote the exchange of experience between the EEC and CIS structures in key areas of work.

The Memorandum on Deepening Interaction between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee was signed on November 27, 2018.
