The issues of developing cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States were discussed at a meeting between Daniiar Imanaliev, the EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, and Denis Trefilov, the CIS Deputy Secretary General.

Special attention was paid to implementing the Action Plan for 2026 – 2030 signed in May 2026, to implement the Memorandum on Deepening Interaction between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee.

“The plan lays the groundwork for implementing joint projects and holding thematic events,” mentioned Daniiar Imanaliev. “It places particular emphasis on trade, manufacturing industry, transport, energy, customs cooperation, technical regulation, and sanitary, veterinary-sanitary and phytosanitary quarantine measures.”

The two sides confirmed the dynamic development of trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU States and the CIS countries.

“There is significant potential for further enhancing trade and economic cooperation, and the EAEU trade weight with CIS States in foreign trade turnover can be increased, which will ensure even greater economic connectivity, ” the EEC Minister emphasized.

The meeting attendees discussed ways to prevent potential conflicts between draft acts being elaborated within the EAEU and the CIS in such areas as the removal of technical barriers to mutual trade and international road transportation.

Following the negotiations, the two sides stated mutual opinion that both the EAEU and the CIS are aimed at building an area of mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
