On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Daniiar Imanaliev, EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, and Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, Advisor to the Co-Presidents of the Republic of Nicaragua on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, signed the Joint Action Plan of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua for 2026–2029.

The document is intended to give new momentum to sector-specific dialogue, address information gaps regarding the EEC’s regulatory environment, and enhance awareness of commercial opportunities and business conditions between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and Nicaragua.

“We expect that the implementation of the Plan will help us gain a better understanding of one another and ensure meaningful participation of the business community both within the framework of the Joint Working Group and at sector-specific events,” the EEC Minister emphasized.

The two sides also paid special attention to preparations for the second meeting of the Joint Working Group established under the Memorandum of Cooperation between the EEC and the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua.  The participants agreed to hold the meeting by the end of this year, with the agenda to be developed and coordinated by experts through working-level consultations.

The Plan envisages activities in such areas as customs regulation, technical regulation, sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures, transport, industry, agriculture, consumer protection, competition policy, information and communication technologies, and financial market development.
