EEC and UNIDO adopted Declaration on Cooperation
23.11.2025

On November 23 at the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Riyadh, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board, and Gerd Müller, UNIDO Director General, signed a Declaration on Cooperation.

"Today, given the scale of industrial policy and sustainable development tasks, we are interested in bringing our cooperation to a new, more systematic and measurable level," Bakytzhan Sagintayev highlighted. "This is why we attach particular importance to signing this declaration. The document reflects the consolidated position of the EAEU States."

The declaration creates a solid interaction framework, lays down the principles of our joint work and gives an opportunity to expand the list of common initiatives across a range of areas including digitalization, improving energy efficiency, introduction of green solutions, development of small and medium-sized enterprises.

"Making use of the UNIDO's analytics and methodological approaches is especially valuable for the Commission. This enables us to compare our strategies with global trends and to come up with more refined solutions within our Eurasian integration association," the Head of the EEC Board stressed during his meeting with Gerd Müller.

Following the negotiations, the two sides expressed their willingness for systematic work to strengthen their partnership even further.

In 2014, the Eurasian Economic Commission and UNIDO had signed the Joint Statement on Cooperation. The document defined the priority directions and formats for enhancing interaction.

Systematic dialogue promotion with key integration and interstate associations is one of the core priorities of the EAEU international activities.
