EEC zeroed import customs duty on industrial fatty alcohols for three years
23.09.2025
These goods are primary raw materials for extracting surfactants used in manufacturing liquid washing and cleaning products, as well as cosmetics, in metal industry, textile, leather, paint, paper, food and healthcare industries and agriculture.
Nowadays, the Eurasian Economic Union does not manufacture industrial fatty alcohols; for this reason the existing needs are met through import deliveries.
"The adopted measure of customs tariff regulation will help support the Union countries’ manufacturers of surfactants, reduce the cost price of finished products, as well as improve competitiveness in the EAEU internal market," noted Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Tariff and Non-tariff Customs Regulation Department.
The Decision shall come into effect after 30 calendar days have elapsed from the date of its official publication.
In accordance with the previously adopted decisions of the EEC Board, the import customs duty at the rate of 0% of the customs value was applied to the goods in question from April 2015 to December 2017, from September 2018 to August 2021, as well as from April 2022 to March 2025.
