EEC set requirements to genetic material of cattle and small ruminants

The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved new chapters of the Common Veterinary Requirements and veterinary certificate forms for in vitro embryos of cattle and embryos of small ruminants.

The documents were prepared based on requests by economic entities that expressed their interest in supplies of these types of controlled goods to the Eurasian Economic Union.

Until now, requirements to in vitro embryos of cattle and embryos of small ruminants have not been determined neither at the national level of Member States nor at the level of the Commission, which hindered their import and free circulation in the Union's territory.

Concurrently, the Board of the Commission updated the Common Veterinary Requirements and the veterinary certificate forms in accordance with the standards set by the World Organization for Animal Health with regard to large cloven-hoofed animals in terms of bovine spongiform encephalopathy and to zoo and circus animals in terms of preventing infectious animal diseases.
