EEC prepared review of international experience of developing digitalization in agriculture
The analysis of the international practice and the EAEU experience enables identifying the main directions of state regulation and support for developing digital services in agriculture.
The document touches on promoting at the country level of physical and economic accessibility of the Internet and information and computer technologies in rural areas as a fundamental factor, providing grants to develop digital solutions for the agricultural sector within special acceleration programs as well as applying an interdisciplinary approach to implementing state-run scientific and technological programs. The document states the need to improve "digital literacy" using academic and short-term training programs for students and rural people so that they have the opportunity to efficiently use digital technologies, including precision farming technologies in accordance with the EEC Board’s recommendation adopted in March this year.
The Commission's experts highlight the fact that digitizing processes to provide state support to agriculture will enable decreasing administrative burden for the EAEU countries’ authorized authorities. Ensuring automated interaction between government information databases will make subsidies more accessible to agricultural producers.
It is supposed that using the experience given in the review of digitalization development in the agricultural sector within the Union will contribute to improving the industrial competitiveness in the internal and export markets.
