Prospects for developing trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Republic of Tunisia were discussed at the Eurasian Economic Commission's headquarters during a seminar chaired by Vladimir Serpikov, Director of the EEC Trade Policy Department.
In particular, representatives of authorized government agencies, business community and academia of the EAEU countries considered the specifics of access to the Tunisian market for exporters from the Member States across a number of sectors, as well as the elimination of trade barriers.
The event named Tunisia one of the significant players promoting supplies in the rapidly developing African market.
The Commission is currently assessing the feasibility of concluding a free trade agreement between the EAEU and its Member States and the Republic of Tunisia.
"The discussion that took place testifies to the definitive mutual interest of both parties, the EAEU and Tunisia, in expanding cooperation," noted Vladimir Serpikov, summing up the seminar. "The parties intend to identify and eliminate trade barriers in mutual trade and see significant potential for trade turnover growth."
