On June 8–9 in Rome, representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) took part in the session of the Council of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
On the session's sidelines, Naira Karapetyan, Director of Agricultural Policy Department, and Zoya Morochkova, Aide to the Minister in charge of Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex, held consultations with the heads of the diplomatic missions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to the FAO and other international organizations in Rome on current issues related to developing efficient cooperation mechanisms.
The parties exchanged views on current and prospective areas of cooperation in the fields of food security and organic agriculture and agreed to continue contacts to advance the EEC – FAO cooperation agenda.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the EAEU Member States and FAO, as well as UN funds, programmes and specialized agencies, observers from international and intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of academia, the private sector and civil society.
The FAO Council is the Organization’s main executive body that performs administrative functions and reviews the global situation in food and agriculture.
