EEC creates legal framework for efficient coordinated actions of EAEU countries’ customs services with WCO

The Eurasian Economic Commission plans to create a legal framework for efficient coordination of actions conducted by the customs services of the Eurasian Economic Union countries with the World Customs Organization (WCO). This was announced by Sergei Vladimirov, Director of the EEC Department of Customs Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice, at the first meeting of the newly formed sector-specific Working Group.

The event was attended by the EAEU States’ authorized authorities whose competence includes the issues of customs policy formation, as well as improving customs regulation in the realm of interaction with the international customs community.

"The Group's activities will give a positive impetus to the Commission's cooperation with the international customs community, and will help our Union be more actively in global processes shaping the WCO agenda", Sergei Vladimirov believes.

The discussed topics include laying out approaches to implementing the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 in terms of cooperation with the WCO. The EEC Customs Cooperation Unit counts on active involvement of the Union States in drafting practical proposals on this issue.
