Eldar Alisherov held negotiations with Chairman of UN Statistical Commission

On January 10, Eldar Alisherov, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held negotiations with Georges-Simon Ulrich, Chairman of the UN Statistical Commission, Director General of the Swiss Federal Statistical Office.

The two sides discussed a number of relevant matters of mutual interest. In particular, the prospects of expanding the membership of the UN Statistical Commission were considered, as well as the possibility of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union joining its expanded membership and the participation of the EEC as an observer.

The UN Statistical Commission is the highest body of the global statistical system. It brings together the Chief Statisticians of the UN Member States from around the world. The Commission is the principal decision-making body for international statistical activities, in particular with regard to statistical standards, the development of concepts and methods and their implementation at the national and international levels.
