International Macroeconomic Seminar «Is there a chance to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals provided global slowdown and growing uncertainty?»

Page ContentOn the 22nd of November, the Eurasian Economic Commission in collaboration with the Interstate bank is holding an international macroeconomic seminar «Is there a chance to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals provided global slowdown and growing uncertainty?» (the Seminar). International macroeconomic seminars have traditionally envisaged to discuss the most pertinent challenges and risks of the world and regional economy development, as well as the most prospective directions of the Eurasian integration. Aggravated geopolitical, ecological and social risks accompanied by growing tensions between countries entail governments limit their funding of “development” in favor of supporting “stability” by implementing conservative approaches and practices instead of proactive measures. This trend results, among other consequences, in risen inequalities and worsened quality of life of certain population groups. These factors are limiting the potential for global growth, in particular, as regards the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (the SDGs). The Seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss, whether the achievement of inclusive economic growth is possible in the context of high level of uncertainty, and what challenges shall be given the utmost significance in the next 10 years in order to advance the SDGs achievement. The Seminar will be attended by the representatives of international organizations, integration associations, national and supranational regulatory bodies, development institutions, and academia.
