Natalia Petkevich and Gohar Barseghyan Discussed Development of Union Industry and Agriculture

On June 25, a working meeting between Gohar Barseghyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Natalia Petkevich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Chairperson of the EEC Council, was held in Minsk.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of industry and agriculture within the Eurasian Economic Union. Special attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects, strengthening of cooperation ties, technological development of industries and improvement of their competitiveness.

The considered proposals included Belarusian participation in implementing the mechanism for financial support to the EAEU industrial projects, improvements to operations of technological platforms, as well as an initiative to create a unified program of development and import substitution in industry. Discussion also covered the tasks to implement the Eurasian Economic Path Declaration and preparations for the INNOPROM. BELARUS international industrial exhibition.

Besides, development of the interstate program for creating strains of microorganisms for making food products and medicines was touched upon.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on the importance of continuing regular dialogue in all discussed areas.
