On August 14, Goar Barseghyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission met with Oksana Lut, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, to consider prospects for developing integration in the Eurasian Economic Union's agricultural sector.

The ministers discussed the implementation of an agreed agricultural policy, the development of Russia's agricultural sector within the Union, the digital development of Russia's and Unionwide agricultural sector, and food availability for the population of the EAEU Member States.

Goar Barseghyan informed about the outcomes of the Union's agricultural sector development and the plans of work to achieve the goals and objectives set by the Treaty on the EAEU and the Strategy-2025 in terms of deepening integration in the agricultural sector.

Special attention was paid to improving the system of forecasting the development of the Union's agricultural sectors aimed at ensuring balanced development of production and markets of agricultural goods and fulfilling the EAEU potential in developing mutual trade.

In order to develop trade and economic ties between producers and consumers of agricultural sector's goods within the Union, the sides agreed to explore the implementation of integration projects and joint activities in the agricultural sector.

Goar Barseghyan and Oksana Lut expressed readiness to expand cooperation on developing the Union's common agricultural market as part of activities of the Eurasian Five countries. An agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the EAEU Agricultural Policy Council this autumn.
