Possibilities for developing the scientific and technological base of agriculture and implementing joint innovation projects in the Eurasian Economic Union were discussed by representatives of public authorities, academia, education and businesses of the EAEU countries, as well as international industry organizations at the round table “Innovations – the Basis for Efficient Development of the EAEU Agricultural Sector” within the Golden Autumn 2024 Russian Agricultural Exhibition.
“Realizing the strategic importance of strengthening technological cooperation, the EAEU States have envisaged integration measures in the Declaration “The Eurasian Economic Path“ to promote innovative approaches in the agricultural sector,” noted Aina Kusainova, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Agricultural Policy Department.
In their speeches, the speakers touched upon a wide range of issues: from quality sector-specific education of future personnel and opportunities for innovation to interstate interaction in this field.
The experts discussed modern approaches to scientific and innovative activities of advanced educational institutions in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on the examples of Grodno State Agrarian University and the Russian State Agrarian University – K.A. Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy.
Representatives of the Russian Quality System and the poultry industry shared information on national projects in the field of digital transformation, as well as practical experience in implementing innovative solutions at agricultural enterprises, including those based on artificial intelligence.
The round table discussed the agricultural sector digitalization to ensure traceability and trade facilitation, increase transparency and improve farmers' access to services as part of the work undertaken by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
The speakers paid special attention to the mechanisms of interaction between the EAEU countries and strengthening interregional cooperation in building an innovative economy amid deepening integration processes.
They emphasized the importance of accelerated implementation of state-of-the art technologies in the Union to fulfill its potential in an efficient manner and improve the agricultural sector's competitiveness.
