EEC Board zeroed out import duties on ferroniobium
20.01.2026
The Eurasian Economic Commission's Board decided to set the rate of import customs duty on ferroniobium (the EAEU CN FEA code 7202 93 000 0) at 0% of the customs value until February 29, 2028, inclusive.

"This ferro-alloy is widely used in producing high-quality special-purpose steels and is a very scarce raw material. The endorsed customs tariff regulation measure will lower the existing deficit in the internal market by increasing the competitiveness of domestic products and capacity utilization of rolled steel manufacturers in the Eurasian Economic Union," emphasized Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Tariff and Non-Tariff Customs Regulation Department.

He has explained that ferroniobium improves plasticity and corrosion resistance when added to heat-resistant and stainless steels. In structural steels, it enhances weldability, strength and plasticity as well.

The Decision shall come into effect after 30 calendar days have elapsed from the date of its official publication.

A temporary import customs duty rate set at 0% of the customs value had already been applied to ferroniobium from December 20, 2023 to December 31, 2025 under Decision No. 156 of the EEC Board dated November 14, 2023.
