The EEC Minister presented the Commission’s approaches to further developing the competitive environment in the Eurasian Economic Union’s transboundary markets and outlined key areas of supranational competition regulation. These include improving the EAEU law, enhancing the efficiency of law enforcement, analyzing commodity and digital markets, and studying competition risks associated with the platform economy and artificial intelligence.
Particular attention was paid to the processes that have an integration effect. Maksim Yermalovich stressed the importance of consistent improvement of supranational regulation, strengthening interaction between the Member States, and developing unified approaches to preventing violations and ensuring equal conditions for participants in transboundary markets.
“Today, it is important not only to respond to violations in an efficient manner, but also to create conditions for the sustainable development of competition, bona fide businesses, and innovation in the Union’s markets,” the EEC Minister is convinced.
He also emphasized the importance of the ICAP as a platform for professional dialogue between the CIS countries' competition authorities, enabling the development of solutions and recommendations that can then be implemented in the CIS countries.
