The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council's meeting held on August 7 in Cholpon-Ata approved the Eurasian Economic Commission's annual report for 2025 on the state of competition in transboundary markets and measures taken to address violations of general competition rules in those markets.

The document includes the work performed by the Commission’s Competition and Antitrust Regulation Branch on its main areas of activity. These include: suppressing violations of general competition rules; improving the Eurasian Economic Union's law and the EAEU countries' legislation in the field of competition and antitrust regulation; competition advocacy and international cooperation; introducing state price regulation by the Union countries; and creating favorable conditions for developing competition.

It was noted that in 2025, the Commission reviewed 18 applications for violations, mainly related to unfair competition. The EEC Board adopted three decisions in this field.

The state of competition was assessed in 22 commodity markets.

Efforts are underway to reduce the cost of mobile communications in international roaming.

Four notifications from the EAEU countries on the introduction (or extension) of state price regulation have been reviewed.

The annual report outlines measures on competition and antitrust regulation that are scheduled to be implemented in the next reporting year. These include: suppressing violations of general competition rules in transboundary markets, as established by Article 76 of the Treaty on the EAEU; creating conditions for setting fair rates for mobile communication services in international roaming within the Member States’ territories; establishing a common exchange (organized) commodity market; and improving the EAEU's competition law.
