The decision covers vehicles powered only by an electric motor (CN FEA of the EAEU code 8703 80 000 3) to be imported to Belarus in the amount of 20,000 units as well as series hybrids (CN FEA of the EAEU code 8703 80 000 5) to be imported to Armenia in the amount of 15,000 units, and to Kyrgyzstan in the amount of 15,000 units.
"This customs tariff regulation measure already demonstrated its positive effect in previous years of application. We expect that it would further contribute to shaping the electric vehicle market and developing the charging infrastructure as well as increasing the share of environmentally friendly transport in the Eurasian Economic Union," mentioned Andrey Slepnev, the EEC Minister in charge of Trade.
Customs duty exemptions are granted only to permanent residents of Armenia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. It is not permitted to transfer the rights of ownership, use and disposal of electric vehicles to individuals having citizenship of and/or permanent residence in Kazakhstan or Russia. In case of series hybrids, the prohibition also covers the transfer of rights to persons having citizenship of and/or permanent residence in Belarus.
