Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held working meetings with Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairman of the African Union Commission, and Benedict Orama, President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Summit held on July 27-28.
The prospects for trade cooperation, certain aspects of industrial and scientific interaction, as well as issues of ensuring food security were considered.
The meeting between the Chairman of the EEC Board and Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairman of the African Union Commission, substantively discussed the preparation of a new document on cooperation between the Commission and the African Union in follow-up to the bilateral memorandum concluded in 2019.
Mikhail Myasnikovich and Benedict Orama, President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), discussed the prospects for implementing a technical regulation system in the African region based on the EAEU experience.
During the Summit, the Chairman of the EEC Board also exchanged views on relevant international and regional topics with Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Council, Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. ‑Petersburg, and Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
